Arthamulla Indhu Matham - Meaningful Hinduism
Kannadasan, Veeraswamy Krishnaraj
The original text is in Tamil and is published in form of articles in 1973 in a weekly magazine. It later took the book form in ten volumes. Ideas, practices and philosophies presented in this book is prevalent in Tamil Nadu & India during the mid 20th century. Some have remained the same, while few others changed.
This is seen by most as a work confirming Hinduism's role in inculcating good morals and values in society. But, analytically reading this work comparing to modern values of 21st century, it's full of superstitions and patriarchal (male supremacy over women) ideals. Not a call for moving towards scientific and egalitarian society.
Religion is not needed for good morals and values. Humanity and humane values are enough. Hope people read this document and realise the real 'meaning' that Kannadasan is exposing.
